1950s Alfred Meakin 'Oklahoma' dinner plate

This lovely plate in Alfred Meakin's 'Oklahoma' design is in excellent condition with full backstamp.

The ‘Oklahoma’ design is based on the musical film released in 1955.

Founded in 1875, Alfred Meakin Ltd operated from the Royal Albert, Victoria, and Highgate Potteries in Tunstall. Alfred Meakin was the brother of James and George Meakin who ran a large pottery company in Stoke-on-Trent.

In the 1950s, the company produced some highly popular ranges featuring sweet designs based on Cornwall’s fishing villages, fairgrounds, scenes from London, farmyard life, Dutch windmills and many more. These charming pieces are highly sought-after, either to use or display.
